        Today’s the first day of Scout’s Second Grade year. Boy, I hope that everything turns out right. She was extremely upset about last year. In the morning she didn’t seem too happy about school. She also told me that that the last class flunked the First Grade. She was all she said. After school, she came home with Jem and she seemed pail. I guessed that everything didn’t turn out as well. She complained more about how they didn’t let her read and that they also flashed cards at her like in First Grade. She was less noisy with the topic and I concluded that she still had the compromise in her mind. At night she perked up when I asked her to sit on my lap and read. After reading, I sent her to bed. Poor girl, just hold on and I’m sure things would get better. Just be patient.
