Quote of the day: “Don’t forget your pants!”

Yesterday me and Dill were playing outside eyeing the Radley house. I told Dill that I wasn’t gonna let Atticus decide whether or not we can see Boo Radley. We came to a conclusion that we were gonna be brave and sneak a peek at Boo Radley through the loose shutter in the window. That’s when Scout came and acted like a girl. She’s turning into Atticus more and more each day, I tell you! When I told her she was turning into a girl she had no choice but to join us. So once we got close enough to the house, I opened the gate and went in the Radley property. I know what you’re thinkin’; you’re thinking how brave that boy Jem is! I strolled up to that old windowsill and looked into the shutters. Scout and Dill were whispering to me asking me what I could see, cause’ they were too chicken to come and look themselves. To be honest with you I could see a small yellow light in the distance. Now comes the scary part, we saw a shadow in the window. I could have swore that was Boo Radley but it turned out it was Nathan Radley. I heard a loud fire and it turned out he had his shotgun with him. Dill, Scout, and I ran like mad dogs. To my surprise my swift ability to run didn’t help me very much because my pants got caught in the Radley gate. I quick took them off, cause’ I couldn’t unhook them, and ran to Dill and Scout. Later on, once I was in bed safe at home I realized I would have to go back for my pants. Scout, of course, didn’t want me to go but I had no choice. Atticus would have whooped my butt if he found out we were hanging around the Radley house! So luckily I got my pants back. Hey, I didn’t have a choice; they are my favorite pair of trousers!
