Living in a Little Town - Week 1: Day 1
Quote of the Day: "Be who you are”
Hi. My name is Scout. I am the daughter of Atticus and the sister of Jem. I am 6 years old. My mother is not alive and so that sometimes makes people think I can't grow up to be a lady. But I can get along just fine with my family. I also live with our cook Calpurnia. She is really mean, by the way. I'm always with my brother and I reckon he can raise me and take care of me good enough with all his older mightiness. The main point is that I am as good as him at most everything and my brother doesn't always have to be the one making himself seem all mature and brave. Even if he does go to school. If I talk to someone they always seem irritated or shocked to see me standing their talking to em' and they say I'm noisy and rude and young ladies shouldn't ask lots of questions and they should wear dresses and not bother them grown up persons. Most of the people in the neighborhood don't think highly about the way we're raised but some of them tell us that I run around to much. They think that a girl should more be inside. I am treated fine by my brother and my father and sometimes by Calpurnia. I wear pants, I run around, and I can do more things a boy can do. I can beat up a boy. I don't want to be around anyone other than my brother and father and be able to run around much as I can want to. I can think intelligent thoughts. I am the way that I am!
