Quote of the Day, “Don’t take things that aren’t your items”

I was reading my newspaper when Jem came in. It was a nice day and I was spending my free time by reading. Jem held up a tarnished medal and I saw a bee on one of the sides as he brought it in to me. He asked what this medal was for and I told him that it was a medal that was won in my days when spelling bees were held at schools, but that was years ago. I wondered were he had found it and I told him someone must have lost the prize when they were probably out on a walk. I then got to tell him if he had looked around for anyone that might have lost it. I then noticed that Scout was about to say something, but then stopped herself when Jem kicked her. I wondered what they were up to. Jem asked if I know anyone that had won the medal, but I said no. I eyed them with suspicion as they ran out the back door from my sight. This wasn’t the only time that Jem asked my about lost items.

After four sunny days, Jem came to my with something else other than that spelling medal. This time it was a pocket watch and an aluminum knife. He came to me with a smile and he presented me with the knife first, then the watch. I concluded that the knife would be worth ten dollars and the watch was broken. I the asked them sternly if they had been swapping with anyone at school. They answered with a No, Sir. Jem then asked if he could carry around the pocket watch that he had found, if he could fix it. I gave in and he ran to his room happy with Scout behind him.

I have a strange feeling that this has something to do with the Radley’s and Arthur. I just know it.
